The United States has been accused of engaging in "cognitive warfare" by releasing a photo showing senior Naval brass casually eyeing off a Chinese vessel in the South China Sea.
Tensions have been rising in the increasingly contentious waters as the US vows to counter China's military buildup in the region.
Both superpowers have deployed aircraft carrier strike groups to the East and South China Seas. China has angered the Phillipines in recent weeks by deploying hundreds of boats inside the country's 320km exclusive economic zone.

I have been inside a CIC of a similar Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer. I am sure a couple navy lieutenants and a few petty officers were in there with their high resolution optics looking at that aircraft Carrier in a serious way. I don't think they were playing Cards in the CIC. I don't think the ship was not on alert. It was on Alert behind the Camera.

I'm one of the lucky ones to have been given a VIP tour of an Arleigh-Burke class destroyer. The USS Mahan (DDG-72) was docked behind the aquarium where I worked for about a week when she was commissioned. When the captain learned I was retired military he set up a tour for me and all the other vets who worked in the aquarium. I've had ship tours before but somehow think since this one was set up by the captain we got the A+++ tour.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen You were fortunate, the commander was busy and I had a lieutenant JG in charge of security who was buddies with the base security get me the Toure. The captain of the base security was someone working in my G3 section. I was not Able to see the engine Room. I am sure you have a better Tour than I did!

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I went with 3 other majors. They announced me boarding the ship. My name was read. The ship public address System also announced my departure. We did meet the base deputy commander who was a friend of one of the majors because both their sons Play on the same little league. I had to request permission to come aboard. I had to salute the US flag on boarding and getting off the ship.

These are potential land grabs due to supply and demand. M East, Africa, Arctic, Ukraine etc. Growing population vs. finite resources. It's inevitable because other than fabricated islands they're not making anymore real estate and resources.
