Police involved in the raid found later trying to get the local pizza shop to open at 2 AM because they are hungry.

Regardless of what they say about legalizing MJ, it is definitely a "gateway drug," and absolutley Lt Col Charlie Brown, fentenal should be a MAJOR concern. I've read where a lot of fentenal coming through Mexico is in concert with the Chinese which is another way to foster the destruction of a free society.
But then ...

PO1 Jd Harwood - Good point; but ... 1. Alcohol is legal; 2. MJ is not. I don't know of any study that says alcohol, even when abused, leads to other drugs like heroin or cocaine. Yet with MJ, once the novelty of it's "high" becomes routine, some users look for a betetr high, like cocaine, etc. To use MJ in most places, is a crime while alcohol is not. Seemingly petty crimes, leads to more serious crime.
For example, a recidivist shoplifter almost always moves on to more serious shoplifting, and even burglary. Cities no longer enforcing traffic laws, are seeing a rise in other areas of crime ... it's a breakdown of moral codes as violators become more and more bold. Lax traffic enforcement has also involved a dramatic increase in "road rage" incidents.
Ignoring petty crime simply results in more bold criminal activities.

PO1 Jd Harwood - Then we agree to disagree which is fine by me. I don't claim to be an expert on the issue ... just my opinion. This study, seems to support your view:

This study suggests that MJ is a gateway drug, but also cites alcohol and tobacco; with the "third" legal drug (MJ) increasing potential illegal drug use.

Good discussion!

See, there's the real reason the government doesn't want to legalize marijuana.
