TRUMP Needs A Bucket Of Sand, A Shovel, A Blanket And A Rubber Mallet...
Then He Should Go To The Beach, Spread Out The Blanket,
Lie Upon The Blanket, Get The Mallet Out
And Go Pound Sand Up His-az..

I will take a moment to address Bernie Sanders comment. Unions exist because companies will sometimes abuse associates when unimpeded. Union members don't always get higher benefits and wages. I spent about 40 years of my 54 years in a nonunion environment. When I got moved to a union environment I was surprised to see union members were making less to start than I had been paying in a nonunion environment. Not only were the wages less but so were the benefits. They had an inferior vacation schedule and less funeral leave than their nonunion compatriots. The work rules were exactly the same as the nonunion environment except for the existence of a shop steward and visitations by Union representatives. I had one appeal by an associate in the 8 years I was in a Union environment, it was upheld by the Union. I am in no way against Unions, I am against a Union the collects from my people for less than they would have gotten without the Union.

Thanks for your comments. Upon returning from Vietnam, I started work at ALCOA in a Union laborers job for approximately 1-2 years. My Dad had always told me "Son, you work hard... you'll get ahead in life". Having worked 20+ hours a week since I was 14... I had a good work ethic. So, I took a non-exempt company job with that goal in mind. After about 2 years I saw how the Company treated their loyal longtime employees when cutbacks hit. They were putting them on the street, after training their replacement, who was a fishing/hunting/Lodge buddy with the Plant Manager. I worked in a Lab with 17 employees of which 15 of us voted to Unionize. Did it solve all of our concerns... no... however when the Company started "outsourcing jobs" to save $$$ we were protected. Bottom line... you pick the lesser of two evils. Unions are not the answer in every circumstance... however it was the right choice for me & 16 others. Without Unions... the wages & benefits for EVERY WORKER wouldn't be what it is today...IMO.
I retired in January 2005 at the age of 55... my God had a different plan for me & that's what I've been doing for the past 17+ years. So... was the Union dues worth paying... hell yes... wouldn't do it any different.

Just curious about your comment ..."When I got moved to a union environment, I was surprised to see union members were making less to start than I had been paying in a nonunion environment."... may I ask why you were moved?

SGT (Join to see) promotions to Corporate Office as Corporate Trainer, then Manager of Training and then as a Market Manager. It was as Market Manager that I returned to the stores. First with responsibility for 3 stores, eventually 7 stores

SGT (Join to see) just another example that there are no absolutes. In most cases your experience is typical. That is why I was surprised since it didn't fit what I had always been told
