This is wrong, wrong, wrong! It breaks the rule of law about separation of church & state and in my view will bring us one step further into Marxist Communism imho!

I think we're already in a Marxist state under our current leadership.

CMSgt Marcus Falleaf - Your comment piqued my interest, so I just looked this subject up and here is what I found, Marcus... Here is what the First Amendment states in the Establishment Clause:
“CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF…”
THE INTENT OF OUR FOUNDING FATHERS WAS TO PROTECT RELIGION FROM GOVERNMENT AND NOT TO EXCLUDE AND SEPARATE RELIGION FROM GOVERNMENT. I Haven't gone any farther in researching it, but it was my understanding that our Constitution protected Religion from the overreach to demand compliance under duress..
I may check this out further...

Separation of church and state keeps religion out of government, it doesn't necessarily mean that government can't govern religious beliefs.

Maj John Bell Could be, the point is they bow to what the government tells them to do.

Maj John Bell There are religions that believe human life doesn't exist until it is born and the concept that life begins at conception is pretty radical. We had a pretty conservative compromise on the issue until the extreme radicals caught the car. Now I think the voters will make that decision and it won't be what the radicals want.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - As I said my beliefs about abortion are not based on my faith. I fall into that category you define as radical.

I define existence at a particular instant in time. You define it somewhere else. A healthy fertilized human ovum in a healthy woman will not be born a carrot or a parrot or a rock. Life is a spectrum. I think it is morally perilous to arbitrarily pick some point in the middle and say, "I don't want you around anymore, so I end you."

I fully expect that society will establish limits outside what I think is right. That will not change me from voting my conscience.

Maj John Bell And I respect that. You and I will never agree on this issue and I support it for reasons beyond the faith that seems to have enveloped the issue. I for one do believe, for a number of reasons, that a woman does have the right to say at some point "I don't want you around anymore" up until the time medical science says the fetus is viable and could survive outside the womb.

If you can't tax churches then you can't give taxpayer money to fund religious schools.

Maj John Bell I'm going to have to look into everything you provided me. However I'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm atheist and I feel once states start funding money to religious institutions then the state supports that religion. If you were to see all religious schools it'd be a different story. But some people such as myself are merely against public funding to religious schools because we don't want to open that can of worms. I'm sure you noticed but their is no nationally recognized religion or language for reasons. You see people say the us is a Judah Christian nation because at the time Christianity was a religion of the English, Dutch, Germans, Spanish, French ect. Once you start favoring one thing over another you open a door for violence. The only states that would favor state secular faith if it were to happen are southern red states. Again I will look over all the material you've given me but I won't change my opinion. I will just become more enlightened thank you.

PFC (Join to see) - Nor do school vouchers apply to just one religion. Or one particular sect in a given faith.

This is the law in Michigan.

PRIVATE, DENOMINATIONAL, AND PAROCHIAL SCHOOLS (EXCERPT)
Act 302 of 1921
388.551 Private, denominational, and parochial schools; supervision by superintendent of public instruction; assistants; compensation; removal; intent of act.
Sec. 1. The superintendent of public instruction has supervision of all the private, denominational, and parochial schools of this state in such matters and manner as provided in this act. The superintendent of public instruction shall employ assistants and employees as may be necessary to comply with the provisions of this act. The number of assistants and employees is subject to the approval of the state administrative board. The salaries and expenses shall be paid by the state treasurer from the fund designated in this act at the time and in the manner as other state officers and employees are paid. The superintendent of public instruction may remove any appointee under this act at any time that the superintendent of public instruction considers advisable. It is the intent of this act that the sanitary conditions of the schools subject to this act, the courses of study in those schools, and the qualifications of the teachers in those schools shall be of the same standard as provided by the general school laws of this state.

I think it would be safe to assume that there is still some level of certification/supervision of parochial schools by the state.

What is "secular faith"?

sec·u·lar
ADJECTIVE - denoting attitudes, activities, or other things that have no religious or spiritual basis: Contrasted with sacred.

Since I've taken my nightly pain pills & I'm trying to stay awake, but my head is bobbing here.
I didn't read everything, but what I got out of this is if you want to send your kid/s to a private/ religious schools you shouldn't get a School voucher. Ok on the same hand if you do send them to one, then you should be exempt from paying state or local tax going towards all public schools in your state, up to & until your child/ children go to one.
