SPC Kevin Ford - I must disagree with your correction as I was careful with my choice of words. There is no longer a left wing (they tended to be described as moderates) in the Republican Party. Today 90%+ of Republicans self-identify as "conservatives". I personally no longer claim the Republican Party in part because in their striving to be individualistic, they have become infinitely less effective in adopting a consistent message. They are also in some instances just as corrupt as their leftist opponents. Then there are the RINOS like Lindsey Graham and Mitt Romney who vote like Democrats while espousing a conservative message. That is essence is why I used the "conservative" moniker. The Republican party's base is conservative and is drawn mostly from working to middle class Americans. I can readily understand why you may not like some of their congressmen or congresswomen. I don't care very much for some of them either. But the people living in each district elects the individual to represent them in the House. Then each state elects their two US Senators as well. Then in the national election the President and VP consistent with the guidance set forth in the US Constitution and several additional amendments. Don't blame the parties for the individual Republicans (or Democrats for that matter) elected. No one is forcing the electorate to elect one or the other. If you are unhappy with the people elected from the Republican party you must blame the voters. I was very unhappy with the results of the 2020 general election. I cannot complain however, because I do believe in representative democracy and the will of the people as demonstrated at the ballot box.
I apologize that this ran a little longer than I desired. Also I made a real effort to keep this a discussion on the issue and not one of personal attacks. If anything appears personal please let me know which comments. I may not agree, but I cannot elevate my conversation without feedback.

CPT (Join to see) - My correction stands. You stated, "I think it better to avoid generalities like you and SPC Ford have made." Your claim is that we engaged in a generality. To support this you stated, "The mainstream conservative is basically "me" and I do not necessarily follow any party line in general, or any politician in particular." I.e. that conservatives like you don't necessarily follow the Republican party line. But neither of us directly mentioned conservatives, many of which are no longer Republican. We talked about the current Republican party. You know, the thing you stated you didn't necessarily follow.

As far as my judgements on the current state of the Republican party, I stand behind those 100%.

CPT (Join to see) - Thanks for keeping the discussion on the issue, you did that very nicely. I agree that the Republican Party (my party for the past 55 years since I first registered to vote) is currently hard to define as "Conservative". While I don't disagree with your discussion regarding the voting guidance set forth in the US Constitution, I fear that we are in danger of losing our representative Democracy. I believe it is being undermined by a threat with no precedent. That is the growing number of Republican officials that are questioning a basic premise of our democracy and Constitution: that the losers of an election are willing to accept defeat. These election deniers create the possibility of a loser not conceding or attempting to overturn the will of the people.

PO2 Marco Monsalve - I believe the same of the very left leaning Democrats. It's sort of like "Who you gonna call"?

While it is not surprising that MTG would sputter nonsense, the sad thing is there are those out there who sill believe this and want to retaliate

There will always be a fringe element in every free society. If we let them speak, everyone will know they are "cracked". If we yell them down, they are likely to become more extreme.
