Congress and the Air Force agreed to put twenty A-10 warthogs into Davis-Monthan Air Force Base storage at the same time other warthogs are getting new wings put on to extend their service life.
The B-52 is going to be kept around to at least 2050 even with an expensive replacement stealth bomber being unveiled last week.

The A10 Warthog and the B52 both certainly have proven records as effective combat aircraft. Sometimes simple actual combat effectiveness is superior to more complicated technical systems.

Priority of the missions has a lot to do with the B-52. Nuclear deterrence lies considerably higher than CAS.
