Tell us: What do you think of the Navy ship name, the USS Fallujah?

The Navy’s new America-class amphibious assault ship LHA-9 will be named “Fallujah” to remember 2004′s first and second Battles of Fallujah during the Iraq War, Navy Times recently reported.
Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro said Dec. 13 during the announcement, “The name selection follows the tradition of naming amphibious ships after U.S. Marine Corps battles, early U.S. sailing ships, or legacy names of earlier carriers from World War II.”

Excellent post. Thank You for sharing this SFC Davis Jr. It all depends on the situation. If the Navy or Marines fought within that battle, then I'm all for voting for that new LHA to named after that particular battle. But, if another branch fought within that particular battle then I don't think it warrants being named after that battle. If You look throughout Naval history a ship is either named after a previous President, a Naval Officer, or a Sailor or Sailors that died in battle for instance the USS Sullivans, which were three Brothers who served aboard the same Naval ship. Or a Naval battle such as the USS Belau Wood. But, this is just My opinion here.
