A 20-year-old woman was shot and killed Saturday after she and three others accidentally turned into the wrong driveway while looking for a friend’s house in rural upstate New York, authorities said.
The young woman, identified as Kaylin Gillis, was struck by gunfire as a man fired two shots from his front porch, one of which hit the vehicle she was in, Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy said in a news conference Monday.
The man, 65-year-old Kevin Monahan, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death, Murphy said Monday. It is unclear whether Monahan has retained an attorney yet.

Holy cr@p. Stop shotting at people who briefly enter your property. We can expect that people will occasionally turn around in our driveways, go to our house by accident or even try to solicit us for whatever reason. None of that comes even close to the standard of justifying the use of deadly force.

2nd type of this article today -- Can't think of a time where it was shoot 1st ask questions later when it came to my front porch...though I've been prepared -- shoot only after you acquire and identify the threat

Both the recently reported shootings appear to be unjustified - and probably are unjustified - but remember that we have only the media version of what happened, which is rarely either accurate or unbiased.
My personal opinion is that both shootings probably will turn out to be unjustified but not quite as blatantly unreasonable as presented by the media if we ever see the full story on either case. I can easily understand a 84-y/o being frightened by a stranger at their door at night - that in itself doesn't excuse shooting through the storm door but we don't know any history behind the story.
How many cases have we read recently of police just going to the wrong address and shooting people. How many cases have we read recently of police shooting someone inside their own home because the armed and armored police were afraid that the resident might be 'a threat'. And THOSE cases are almost always declared "justified"
Let's wait for a jury to hear ALL the evidence and let the jury decide.

I hate seeing these but people need to be responsible with weapons. I hope the person is charged.
