How a flood led family to discover slavery link

Growing up, Richard Blake knew only vague details of his family's long-lost fortune but a flood in the 1990s led him to uncover his ancestors' troubling role in the transatlantic slave trade.
As a boy he was fascinated by his grandmother's stories of the family's history - adventures involving swords, blowpipes and far-off lands.
Descended from the Grants of Kilgraston House in Perthshire, Mr Blake can trace his maternal line to Sir Francis Grant, an artist who painted Queen Victoria, and Mary Grant, a 19th century sculptor.
While he took an interest in the artwork, he said, he didn't have any real inkling of what lay behind the family privileges and wealth.

Interesting story!
The leftist idiots of the 1619 project claim that they 13 colonies broke away from England because England was going to get rid of slavery. This is not true and this goes to show how history can be twisted by idiots on the left who want to Foster divisiveness in the USA.
Slavery was not outlawed in England until 1833 so where in the hell did the 16 19 idiots come up with this idea? Also, someone on Rally Point was saying that Democrats did not start the Civil War. President Lincoln was the first Republican and he said he was going to free the slaves. I then mocked this one individual on Rally Point saying was it a republican who fired the first shot at Fort Sumter? The Confederate States left the union one by one after president Lincoln won.
So I just wanted to set the record straight so I can weaken the premise of the 1619 project founders.
