Lt Col Charlie Brown The Biden administration is out of touch with reality. Electric vehicles are not ready to become the norm. Plus, the current infrastructure is no where near ready.

This just guarantees we will crash the grid like Texas did last winter. We can't cope with the need for electric heating (HVAC) or cooling so we want to make all our vehicles need electric charging? Crazy

Not only the problems with the minerals that have to be imported and cost but even worse the danger of them catching fire even when they are parked aren't even being used. The mileage on a charge isn't very much at all and both cold and heat can reduce the alr4eady poor mileage. Forget long trips and plan extra time for recharges along the way. Of course You have to find a recharge station or station depending on the trip length. Everything You use in the electric vehicle drains power off and there is no internal system to recharge that even a Hybrid has by gasoline kicking in and running the generator to increase and recharge power while You are driving and could result in 50 Mile per gallon. EVs, most not even 200 miles under ideal conditions.

I took recent trip from Massachusetts to an area South of Trenton, New Jersey in my gas operated Chevrolet Tahoe and used less than half a tank of gasoline despite even delays for road construction and crossing the George Washington Bridge. The Tahoe used 8 cylinder to get up to speed the automatically drops to using 4 when speed is reached and extend gas mileage. A tank of gas actually made a round trip possible although i did fill up in NJ before returning to Massachusetts and did use the car in NJ for three days before filling. Took me under 5 minutes to fill the gas tank as opposed to long stops to recharge and electric vehicle and weather isn't a factor for Me. Also home recharging is a major drain on Your electric bill and also dangerous with a risk of fire on an Electric vehicle. California for example had already had instructions during major power drains not to try and recharge Your electric vehicles. I'm not against research and progress but in no way are the EVs all that safe or practical at this point in time. Our local Fire department have already had Electric vehicle, not even being used burn while the were parked during rainstorms and warning about parking them inside or charging risk of fire and maybe losing Your house in the process if parked within an attached garage.

No way with current Electric Vehicles would i even consider buying one, maybe the day will come but it sure isn't here yet !

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter In addition to the costs that you mentioned there is the cost of around $1,200 for a 240-volt outlet, Level 2 charger, and wall-mounted system for the EV. Then each house is subject to the increase in pricing of KWH for electricity. We have experience increases almost every year for the last five years. All this makes it affordable for the average citizen - Not!

MSG Billy Brumfield - As long as you don't get stuck in any traffic. Then you should have a 500' extension cord or a gas-powered generator in the trunk.
