This is a continuous behavior of toxic leadership. This is what happened to Henery Johnson AKA the Black Death, served with the Harlem Hellcats and suffered numerous wounds while defending the line with the French Army. Standing a whopping 5'4'', he suffered 21 different wounds while fighting off a German attack. His Battle was wounded and was being taken by the Germans where Henery fought off his Battles abductors. For his sacrifice went unnoted, unrecognized but to those he served with and the French military. Sadly, it took several decades after his death before he was given his due.
