The Evolution of the Battle Rifle: From the FAL to Today’s AR-10

I always considered what would be a good hunting rifle.

My favorite medium caliber weapon is without a doubt the SIG-510, or Stgw-57. Chambered in 7.5 Swiss, blowback action, a bipod that can adjust position to any point around the barrel, winter trigger, grenade launching capability, and more. Only stuff really wrong with it is the severe lack of spare parts as well as the available ammo outside of Switzerland quickly drying up. Makes me wish I bought cases of it back when GP11 was still only around 65 cents a round. Across the pond they retail for significantly less than $1000.

My penpal for his own reasons had to give up his. Makes me wish I was in a position to have him let me retain it for safekeeping, but the Swiss police don't typically send milsurp firearms to get destroyed.

I'll take an AR10 over an AR15 any day, but the M1 Garand holds the highest place in my heart. I know it has shortcomings but I don't care.
