President Eisenhower was NOT in favor of large Military parades which in His opinion was like Russia or China trying to show off their Military power instead of a proper focus protection our citizens or to honor our Veterans . This from a Five Star General who was Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Europe during WW2.

I agree with President Eisenhower on this point and for the same reasons. Parades however such as Veteran's Day for service or Memorial day I do approve of as the specific purpose is the honor and than those Who served and on Memorial Day the many Who died in the service to our country. Each and every year I have participated in both those holidays while still in uniform and continue to as an active Member of Veteran's organizations. One time events such as the 250th Anniversary of the US Army though would be a valid exception to Parades NOT for the sake of showing off but to honor the History of that service.

You approve of a parade on Veterans Day and on Memorial Day, but not on the Army's 250th birthday?

LTC Matthew Schlosser - I'm Not against observing that Birthday but within limits. We face a period where US Government spending is out of control but and thinking further not something to do at random but Yes, the US Army 250th is important. Maybe shows responding when Your tired resulted in My missing part of the point. An infrequent major event like that should be celebrated. I feel kind of like a fool for missing that one point which was the actual subject of the post. I did go back and add a sentence to remedy that but rather than sneak it in admit I had missed a major point on why that individual parade would and should be held. Guess You woke Me up Colonel, thank You.

LTC Matthew Schlosser - Seems also some of the press coverage also failed to mention the purpose of the parade as well and I should have picked up on that omission. They are so intent on attacks on President Trump guess it shows far to often even now. Colonel Conway actually had made His message clear enough. My corrected Response wasn't backing down or hiding but admitting My own mistake and fixing it.

Damn!! One of my greatest regrets in my life will be missing this parade Brother Stephen. I have way too many physical problems. I remember when I was a kid watching a Veteran's Day Parade with a whole bunch of Doughboys from WWI marching along together. If there is a chance to donate to get this Parade rolling, I'm all in. The whiners will be whining loudly but whining it will be.

I never went to an Astronaut Parade, the Desert Storm Parade, etc..

When President Trump killed General Soleimani, I got angry not like Stupid AOC or Insider Stock Trader Nancy Pelosi did, I got mad remembering the soldier killed in Kirkuk, Iraq by Iranian made shaped charges called EFPs. I went to at least 3 ramp ceremonies of people from my Idaho ARNG killed by these precious bombs that looked like little paint cans. When they explode, the plasma of the blast cuts a quarter -sized hole through the armored Humvee and kills or maims soldiers and often cooks off ammo. I knew a driver who lost an eye, a leg below the knee and some fingers so when TDS Democrats got mad at Trump for killing the General behind the Kuds Force High-tech IEDs, I got mad only because I remembered the fallen!
I do not give a Foxtrot what progressives of TDS. I think about the fallen!
