SGT Keith Bodine-I never have eaten MREs ,the closest I came was the LRRP. Rations they had us try out in 1967,for my money they were far better than "Ham and Limas" "C rats we had,so I think it's a good thing for improvement in field rations, for as we both know there are no Airforce dining facilities where grunts go!

SGT Philip Roncari, You would have to use Ham and Limas as the comparison, wouldn't you? My dogs food would taste better than that trash. That had to be made as a slam for the American fighting man. I actually tried it once to see what all the hype was. It wasn't hype. Patooiee! I agree it's a great thing for better field rations, especially if they are tasty and nourishing.

SGT (Join to see), I never really ate MREs a lot, even though I retired in '98, 17 years after their introduction. I may not have eaten them enough to make a genuine comparison, but I always preferred MCIs (aka C-rations).
