That is a very sad indictment for the windy city SP5 Mark Kuzinski
The accuracy of the statement depends about where you are. I expect the south side residents would concur more with this assessment that the north shore residents for instance.
All lives to indeed matter.
It is sad which a city which has significant gun ownership restrictions suffers because the criminals and gang-bangers don't care about gun laws while law-abiding people do.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski I use to have an office up in one of the suburbs (Schaumburg, IL) and I had employees that came in from the inner city (1994 to 2002) and the stories of crime were horrendous. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like it has changed much since then. It is such a large city and there will never be enough police to keep it completely rid of crime. I don't know if society will have the very best answer to solving this issue in any society. There are so many factors affecting it: unemployment, poverty, homelessness, gangs, drug trafficking, prostitution, organized crime, white and blue collar crime, and the list goes on.

Born there. Left soon after. Never looked back..
Happiness may not be Lubbock Texas in a rear view mirror.
Happiness is definitely Chicago in the rear view mirror.
I've had to spend a couple thousand days down there in my trucking career..
The produce market is a microcosm of that shithole.

Interesting, COL, my office was in Schaumburg for several years across the street from the Woodfield Mall. In the late 70s, lived in Algonquin.

That is why a lot of guys that join the service have no problems when under enemy fire.
