The one thing I believe missed in the article is: find a range or place to shoot that allows shooting from the holster. Most ranges do not. You may have to find public land somewhere to do this. The odds of you being attacked in your house, with your handgun laying on the counter in front of you, with a prestaged magazine, are almost ZERO. Practice shooting from different positions. Most ranges do not allow this either.
Practice slowly. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

Practicing a holster draw can be done without ammo. Our range permits that, but I caution thos in classes to first practice at home (WITHOUT ammo). I also practice various positions ... on back shotting between legs, from both sides, prone, crouch, etc. What's not allowed is shooting on the move at targets, but that's also important, and if you don't or can't practice that, it's best to NOT do it in a real situation. In fact, it's best to even avoid shotting in a real situation unless there's absolutely NO choice. Where people have gotten into trouble is missing the intended target and hitting someone behind what/who they were trying to hit.

I wouldn’t shoot someone if there was another choice. It is certainly my last resort, SSG Bill McCoy

SFC (Join to see) - That's the only mindset to have ... as well as having the mindset to do so, IF (again, IF) there's no other choice.
