Chip, by definition Mr. Pierrepoint was not a murderer. As murder is defined as the illegal premeditated killing of a person.

While what Mr. Pierrepoint did was clearly premeditated it was also sanctioned by the government making it legal under the law.

However, I wouldn’t want his job. Hopefully he was good at it and those folks sentenced to death were quickly dispatched.

SMSgt Thor Merich I've Heard Other Interviews and Documentaries about Albert Pierrepoint and He truly was a Professional and Prided Himself on Quick, Efficient Deaths. But Like any line of Work there are the Unusual Cases. The First Nazi He Hung had lost weight and so His Neck didn't break (Improper Length of Rope) but an assisting Soldier I believe ether jumped on the shoulders of the Accused or Pulled on His Legs, Breaking His Neck. Also I Do believe that One that He Dispatched was later Pretty Well Demonstrated to Not have Committed the Crime, I think it was a Female

This was certainly an interesting presentation, Can't say I ever thought of a person that was a professional executioner but here is one. There certainly are people that deserve to be executed so I guess in one form or another someone has to do that act and make it quick and final.
