"MOONLIGHT SERENADE" BY GLENN MILLER
The Sound Glenn Miller was looking for
CW5 Jack Cardwell, I grew up listening to the sounds of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He was my parent's favorite "WWII big-band" and thus, became mine. His "sound" was different because he utilized a greater number of woodwinds and muted trumpets than did his peers to soften the music. Moonlight Serenade was his most famous, and became his signature song.
His death (lost over the English Channel in an airplane) on December 15, 1944 still raises controversy to this day.
