Sad but, then again it was WAR time and though not like it is now a Volunteer Military, his skillset could have been vital to helping and possibly making sure that not as many of our brothers and sisters lives would not have been lost. In some ways, it was a selfish act, by deserting. Just like all of the current deserters that fled to Canada during our current conflict.

What has always gotten my goat is people raise their right hand, knowing damn well, what our business is about, and after we spend millions of dollars in some cases training them, desert. And the excuse is always " I didn't know I would have to deploy" or "I didn't sign up for this." What a bunch of BS. They all deserve jail time. No pardons, No exception because they have families or kids or crap excuses like that. Because again, a lot of our brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate, had families and kids as well. Some who never even got the chance to see there kids.

I have no compassion or sympathy for AWOL or Deserters.

Half Nickel of the day.

I have respect for those that served. I have respect for those that did not serve and stayed in America to face the consequences of their choices. In my opinion both are patriots.

For those that ran, I hold them in contempt. They took the easy way out. They are not deserving of our sympathy. They made a choice and if that choice negatively impacted their life, TOUGH! If they had a good life anyways, that is unfortunate. Go to the relatives of those that went in their place and died. Ask for their forgiveness, cause you sure won't get mine.
