That design is similar to the Gallet or "Jet" firefighter's helmets used in many parts of the world, although the side and rear-neck coverage is less than the Gallet. I have an older Gallet fire helmet, and it is quite comfortable and provides better protection than the Ben Franklin style helmets popular in the US.
