It isn't surprising to me that a Vietnam Veteran who owns land in south Texas adjacent to Mexico is willing to give up part of his land to build the wall between the USA and Mexico.
IMHO it is a good thing that the bulk of the land adjacent to Mexico is in Texas and Arizona which tend to have a higher percentage of conservatives.
If this wall had to be built on the coast of California through Washington State I would expect few if any people would volunteer their land. Rather they would be up in arms.
After all "Remember the Alamo" is still a battle cry to many Texans.
