Thank you for sharing my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell an intriguing story about WWII US Army veteran Fred Spencer who served in Company C, 126th Infantry Regiment, 32nd "Red Arrow" Division. When the men were deployed, they made an pact to give a bottle of whiskey to the last survivor.
Wheeler Bowman died at 97 years old on April 29, 2018 leaving Spencer the last man standing. The original whiskey disappeared over the years, so a new bottle of Crown Royal will go to Spencer during a ceremony at 1 p.m., July 1 at the VFW Post 1527.
The Sunday event will pay tribute to Spencer's deceased comrades. A shot of whiskey will be poured into a bucket of sand for each of the 93 deceased veterans, which will remain outside the VFW Post."
Last man standing to echo our friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs's post today.

HELL of a last man standing pact. The original whiskey disappeared around a group of soldiers ? Go figure. Outstanding tribute to Company C, 126th Infantry.

Amazed that they only had to get one bottle of Crown Royal over all the years! Great story.
