Seems like they may be going for capability instead of longevity.

Chip, do you know if the UK puts out 2% of its GDP toward defense? I know they built a new aircraft carrier but the only have half of the F-35 junk Strike Fighters they need. I was wondering if this is because of the backlog at the aircraft manufacturing plant or lack of money? What do you think?

LTC (Join to see) Hard to Tell, Depends on Who is doing the Counting. From All I've seen the UK Spends between 1.98 to 2.2 percent of GDP on Defence. Money? Well they have a Tory (Conservtive) Government and the Tories have been in charge for the last 8 Years, Traditionally "Conservatives" throw money at Defence like a Drunken Monkey throwing s**t at a Fan or the Proverbial Drunken Sailor. Conservatives are "Big on Defence" but I don't know that, that is the True Case. I do know they have greatly reduced their Overhead closing several RAF bases over the years from My Time they have also lost Revenue from the US Navy and or NSA that leased quite a bit of Land there in My Day.
