Canada's first-ever Indigenous-led coast guard auxiliary now operating along B.C.'s coast

The Coastal Nations Coast Guard Auxiliary (CN-CGA)

First Nations along the coast of B.C. have long assisted in rescue efforts in their territorial waters, now they are official partners of the Canadian Coast Guard.
The Ahousaht and Heiltsuk First Nations have commenced on-water operations.

The Nisga’a, Gitxaala, and Kitasoo/Xai’xais First Nations will soon begin on-water operations.
