PO3 Steven Sherrill - PO; Not quite. The Canadian Rangers is a rather unorthodox unit made up primarily of First Nations and Inuit people and they are primarily "Reservists". They operate almost exclusively in the Arctic and I'd bet on them any day of the week if it came to a "dispute" between them and US Army "Rangers" if the dispute was in the Arctic.
Until the Canadian government actually ran out of brand new WWII surplus SMLEs the Canadian Rangers were using WWII Lee-Enfields (which actually proved to be the only reliable weapon for prolonged use under Arctic conditions).

SSG John Thornton COL Ted Mc I Don't feel so foolish now. My first thought when reading the article about the rifle was the New York Rangers Hockey Team who got their name as a sendup of the Texas Rangers (not baseball, law enforcement) which had me wondering if they were SF Rangers or LEO Rangers. The coloration also kinda had me thrown off. So thanks for the clarification.
