One of the USAFE bombs was a dud with farsi written on it to the effect of "we know how to get you." It was dropped through his bedroom window. For some reason he liked to sleep outside in a tent and was away "camping" when the F-111's hit.

I recall a political cartoon that appeared in the papers shortly after the attack. The first cell depicted the French plans for the allied attack into Europe during WWII as a straight line across the channel from England to France. The second cell depicted the French plan for the bombing of Libya which had jets flying from the UK all the way down and around the coast of France to their targets. Which is what they had to do because the French would not allow us to overfly them.
