Always posthumously these days for our former generations... A great honor while still one is alive, amd a shame so many have received this way! I find it amazing that the information is there, other medals provided and ultimately up-graded... A shame 40, 50, 60, 70+ years later, we’ve still got the awards being reviewed and families and fellow veterans are still tirelessly working to prove! The government should be ashamed of itself for the efforts having to be made decades later for something that should be granted immediately! Only thing I envision is the technological advances of today being different. Soldiers actions and submittals haven’t changed, only the era. Are things so different of today than yesteryear, beyond the social and racial differences that blocked many from acquiring - whom is reviewing the prior DSC’s granted that probably warranted?!?!? Chafes my ass just a bit, rant over!

SGT (Join to see) These MOH stories are always moving and inspiring. This story regarding Maj. Charles L Thomas is a few steps beyond. I can only imagine what trials and tribulations a black officer must have faced in the US military in the 40s, 50s and prior. In that his deeds were finally elevated to the proper place in history via the Medal of Honor is even more inspirational. RIP Major. Thank you for your courageous service to our nation and to your men in combat.
