China has been testing the waters with their aircraft carrier and their bomber flights around the Spratly islands lately SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. They have been taking advantage of us because lame-duck POTUS Obama has been our leader.
Hopefully once Donald Trump is POTUS we will get serious with China:
1. let their currency float to the natural level instead of the heavily subsidized Chinese state level of exchange.
2. Actively monitor their submarines and surface ships and make sure they know they are being tracked.
3. Ramp up our public support for Taiwan - economically, diplomatically and militarily.

SGT (Anonymous) - 1. I realize you may be a POTUS Obama supporter. [Some of the people I tagged support him as well.]
2. In addition to being an Army LTC, I was also a senior federal consultant until the Affordable Care and Protection Act was rolled out. At that point many senior people like me were terminated from employment. In my case my service-connected disabilities made it difficult to work in the Pentagon and other federal buildings. I was terminated from employment after being given a heads up by my program director.
3. There was nothing bold at all about my statement about POTUS Obama's dealings with China. When he came into office he knew very little about foreign policy being the junior senator from Illinois. He learned on the job - feeding at the firehouse as we used to say.
Richard Nixon opened up relations with China in a manner similar to Ronald Reagan opening up relations with Russia. In international relations -strength in conviction tends to be a virtue especially when united with a clear and coherent foreign policy.
4. POTUS Obama changed his emphasis many times on international affairs from Arab spring onwards. He came into office with grandiose ideas such as ending US involvement in middle eastern and southwest Asia warfare. Reality tempered his grasp of the possible. Being POTUS is arguably the hardest job on the planet. His hair has turned gray prematurely which is not unusual for those who hold that office.

SGT Anonymous, I down voted you because of your ad hominem attack on LTC Stephen F.. He didn't do that to you. He simply stated his credentials and experience as you should have done. You went after the man not the issue. Poor form.
You claim that LTC Stephen F. is biased against Obama, yet you reveal your own bias with your defensive posture.
So now, from one of LTC Stephen F.'s buddies, you have heard honest input, which was not based on political leanings.
SGT (Join to see) has some excellent suggestions for you.

LTC Stephen F. - You don't have to defend yourself. Who cares what the "ghost" thinks or writes? I know I don't and there are many other RP members who feel the same way about you. This guy is a big 0. Don't waste your time on him.

LTC Stephen C. - You're a lot nicer than I am.
This 0 is an asshole. A troller, and probably not even a veteran. Who would know, without more in his profile, which I don't give a crap about now. Go away "Ghost" and don't come back. You have no friends here.

Keep in mind also that the communist are in control in mainland China as they overthrew the legitimate government of Nationalist China and seized power. The Nationalist Chinese then fled to Formosa, now known as Taiwan and they were recognized as the legitimate Government of China by the United States and even the UN of which they were a member nation. Keep in mind also Taiwan is a democracy and they elect their leaders. In 1979 during the administration of President Carter the US Embassy to The Republic of China, Taiwan was closed and the United Nations also turned on them due to pressure from the Communist on the Chinese mainland. Carter also removed all the Military people who were stationed in Taiwan out of that country, The Republic of China. The Communist in the People's Republic of China and the United Nations decided that the Communist were China instead of the Republic of China which the UN decided couldn't call themselves China anymore and have an embassy but the Communist now could for the first time.

Communist China continues to push other countries around and through economics actually now controls a number of other countries via financial means. Instead of using Military forces they have slowly taken control of other through these economic measures. China also has also recently forced other countries to withdraw recognition from Taiwan through that control of their economy and threats to cut off the money. That has already happened to a great number of countries on the African continent. China is also well aware of how the US used forward based military on small islands in WWII and it appears they are building these Military forward operating locations themselves to support their new area of control. They claim the South China Sea as their own despite the fact other countries have coastline such as Vietnam, South Korea and Japan just to name a few on ocean areas within or adjacent that area. .

Communist China it appears is thinking way ahead and taking steps for the future. How far will they take it ? I don't know but in My opinion the possibilities should cause major concern.
