If Congress won't stand up to their responsibility it seems like DHS should have some way to declare the Coast Guard "essential personnel" and get them paid. Or maybe DOD could step up and "lend" a block of budget funding? Shutdown? There has to be a better way for the children to settle their political differences.

PO1 Martin Findley - sorry but the fearless leader has taken full responsibility. He said so himself.

Sir, unfortunately we are considered "Essential personnel" which is why we are working for no pay...it is kind of an indentured servitude clause in our terms of military service. There is some argument whether it is contractually legal...but we didn't take oaths of contractual obligation, we swore an oath of service- so there you have it. People are working on the how to get us paid, so we will continue to guard our people and our nation (as in We the people).
