Maybe. I have a hard time believing anything coming out of the IPHC and NMFS after seeing their recovery programs for other "depleted" fisheries that allow the Commercial catch to go on with business as usual, while the Sport catch gets reduced to micro numbers or completely shutdown. Both Institutions are beholden to the Commercial Fisheries and mismanagement of a fishery is a hallmark of these two so called institutions.

You are correct only a two day sport fishing season for red snapper in Texas gulf waters this year with Commercial Fisheries quotas unchanged and very long season.

I wonder why many other States put up with the BS from NMFS? Louisiana told NMFS and the Feds to keep out of their State waters and mind their own business, and came up with Red Drum size and catch limits for Sport that blow the rest of the Gulf of Mexico States regs out of the water, with no depreciation of the fishery.
