Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on June 5, 1870 a huge section of the city of Constantinople, Turkey, was set ablaze. When the smoke finally cleared, 3,000 homes were destroyed and 900 people were dead.
Most of those killed seemed to have been Christian Armenians.
Similar to ancient Rome under Nero, the Muslim Turks blamed the Christian Armenians. They would exact revenge on the Armenians after the Great war started.
