My great grandfathers were Midwestern farmers and urban bakers. The baker, James Bruce, did have a brush with violence (see attached article). My great grandfather survived an attack in 1888 in his bakery in the Fountain Square section of Indianapolis. He lived until 1915. How many of us can continue fighting after getting hit in the head with a hatchet and stabbed nine times? I think he would give MS-13 a tough time.

While it seems most people of European ancestry who do genealogy searches find they are descended from Nobility or successful Merchant Class; I am the direct descendant on the paternal side of a Irish rogue who killed an English soldier in a pub fight over a bar wench. He was able to sign on as crew for passage on a ship that was leaving in hours after his crime. He arrived in the US and assaulted a Policeman in Boston within a few days of arrival. A wealthy merchant who wanted to avoid military service paid his jail bond , in return he served as a substitute soldier in the Civil war. His singular most notable achievement was not getting killed or injured while campaigning, then surviving Andersonville prison for the last three months of the War.
So not a totally unfair comparison between MS-13 animals and my Great Great Grandfather.
