I’m a Christian, or more accurately, a servant, who has a take on this from an objective side.
First, Chau took it upon himself to try to take Christ to a Nation that does not seek outsiders. He has become a martyr, and he accepted those risks.
The martyrs for Christ gave their lives and desired no vengeance be sought.
There should be none sought. If we want to be a Christian Nation, we have to act like a Christian Nation.
Second, it has been long held as a prophecy of sorts that until the gospel is preached to all corners of the earth, it is said that Christ will not return.
This may very well be the last corner.
Last, from a humanistic point of view: why would they want to become modernized. They seem violent and primitive, but they have something we don’t: peace.
They are a community and they know this.
Heck, they don’t just interest me, I envy them!

it is a tragedy to learn about the death of this American missionary. Unfortunately, this is an ongoing investigation and we fully don’t know why it happened and much of the details. I also think that is it very important to become very familiar with a culture before anyone wants to make contact, specially when the person going in has a set of believes that thinks that could be benefitial to that culture or group.

(Join to see) I Concur. We Shouldn't Intrude on their Culture. We've done enough Damage already to Illicit such a Response.
