I knew this all along and told my wife so when the discussion began. I felt Saddam was saying what he said to keep his enemies from trying anything not because there was any substance to it. The first Iraq War was totally justifiable and had my support. This second was something else. I believed we were making a serious mistake. I still do.

SP5 Dennis Loberger I understand why people feel that the first Iraq War was justified. On it's face, it seems like Iraq was just being mean to our small friend Kuwait. However, what we fail to recall is that Kuwait was involved in shady dealings against Iraq, including slant drilling to essentially steal their oil. It's hard to completely justify how that one went either.
NOW, that being said, I think the restraint we had there - just pushing Iraq out of Kuwait - was the right answer and gives the operation some semblance of proportion.

MAJ Bryan Zeski Dah! Ya Think So. I Knew the WMD was complete BS. I Know Just How effective We Were Just after Desert Storm with Southern Watch making sure that Saddam couldn't replenish and He had already Pretty Well Exhausted what He Had. "Intelligence" said there was WMD. Take it from this Spook, Intelligence said No Such Thing, They just pinned it on us because what we do is Classified and No One Would Know. Now whether the True Motivation was the Contract Saddam Put Out on Daddy Bush or Guilt of How We Left the Shia and Kurds High and Dry after Desert Storm, I can't tell about that,

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel So, bottom line, should there be any repurcussions for world leaders who execute unjust wars?
