COL Charles Williams This is needed, sir. Sure, it might be painful at first, but the force needs to be able to perform. YOU signed on the line. YOU know the requirements. YOU know you could get called to deploy. YOU are responsible to maintain that ability.
Now, are there instances where life does get in the way, but it is also YOUR responsibility to get the situation on forward movement ASAP.
I mean, hell, I'm turning 40 in 2 days. I'm working my ass off in order to be in just as good of shape as the 18 year olds so that I can get back in. The word to focus on is: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!

this will really cost the military and the taxpayers in the long run. early separation payouts and medical discharges, I don't think it would be worth separating good Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen just because they are not deployable IF they can fill non-deployable rolls.

I never got to go, I'd been on the list for the first Gulf War in 90, I was sent a letter of appreciation for being on the list, that instill have and prize...a guy in the Pentecostal church my wife likes that we go to was USMCR, and did get to go, I find myself obviously envious quite frequently, though he of course tries to assure me I'm overrating what it must've been like, still, the thoughtmnags at me, and, as a result, quite frequently, imdo rather feeomlike, as the Brits sometimes say, a chocolate soldier...there are other families in the church who've had more recent family participation, and the church often sends them care packages by mail, I'd just figured you might find alp that of interest, many thanks....
