Very interesting, SFC (Join to see), and reminds me of some of the history associated with this area of the country.
Captain Tod Carter, CSA, left his home in Franklin, Tennessee and three years later fought in the Battle of Franklin that literally raged around his boyhood home. On November 30, 1864, he was mortally wounded not far from his house. The next day his family found him and took him home, where he later died in his own bed that he had left three years earlier. Tragic story.
I've visited the Carter House many times. LTC Stephen F. PO2 (Anonymous) SGT Robert George SP5 Mark Kuzinski SFC William Farrell SSgt (Join to see) Maj Marty Hogan SGT John " Mac " McConnell

SFC (Join to see), middle Tennessee is full of points of interest, many from the Civil War era. Carnton Plantation, also associated with the Battle of Franklin is quite close to the Carter House. Not too far from Franklin, are the homes of Presidents Andrew Jackson (The Hermitage) and James K. Polk. I could go on and on, but you get the general idea!

LTC Stephen C. - I do remember driving through towns that still had cobble stone roads. I won't lie though, I don't really like the rules of the roads!...lol... so I do my best to avoid driving through that state. I am however not in a hurry these days so I don't think it will be too bad now. :)

I will have to ask my grandma, I was 16 when we went through that town. I just remember the road, not exactly what town we were in. My family migrated in the wagons from TN to OK, and she was giving us history on it. But again I was 16... lol... I don't know what 16 year listens at that age. Lol

Thanks for sharing SFC (Join to see) When I post the Civil War updates I have been in including the journal entries of "Sergeant Alexander G. Downing, Company E, Eleventh Iowa Infantry, Third Brigade, "Crocker's Brigade," Sixth Division of the Seventeenth Corps, Army of the Tennessee.
I find it interesting to read what soldiers wrote from both sides.
