Dont Call Me Crazy - Episode 1

This is a three part series about suicide and other disorders. This one is about younger people, but veterans and service members are face with some of these same problems. Beth helped coordinate this series, based in the UK.

Two big issues face this problem of mental illness is the stigma associated with mental health and the loss of institutions to help people. At the VA, there is the mental health lock-up that seems to be mostly a farce. In my time of need, I was best helped by a social worker and a DR that helped me with keeping my cat, since I was sleeping in my car and helped me with suicide.

We send people to war and then when military service is over, it is like, you are on your own. But this is not just a military problem but society at large. I cannot imagine people wandering about. Or people with serious mental illness, who many times are not understood to what the problems are. Is it criminal to be mentallly ill? (You, me and them) are not crazy. Many times it is a matter of underlying issues and how to cope. If a person acts out, let's not be hasty to condemn, criticize and ostracize. We ARE our brother's keeper. If anything, we are being pro-active, instead of homelessness, inceration and marginalizing people who are seriously mentally ill.
