It is pretty much meaningless unless you're applying for a federal job and you didn't register then you will be blackballed. These women service Pilots we're very happy to volunteer. It's too bad it took them 30 years to get veterans benefits. Can you imagine the put down for those who don't want to serve in the military when you tell them that your grandmother was a pilot flying fighter planes, fighter bombers and bombers during World War II from the factory all the way to England?

They were brave women for sure LTC (Join to see) and I agree with you about their benefits.

Well, SFC William Farrell, this whole thing has been percolating for some time, and I still think it’s much ado about nothing. Registration with the Selective Service System is nothing more than adding a name to a list that has been virtually meaningless since 1973. Registration with the Selective Service is simply not tantamount to being drafted.

LTC Stephen C. I agree Steve. Some men had to sue and I guess they got what they wanted. I never registered for the draft as I was in on my 17th birthday!

If my daughters have to stand a watch, I get it. But every last whiny, sniveling man bun better be on deck, geezers like me will be Manning unit shortages or the training pipeline, and national survival must be at stake.
We must remember however:
- the national industrial base must produce elevated levels of materiel, munitions, and supplies
- the merchant fleet must activate and meet mobility needs
- the civilian reserve air fleet must activate and meet mobility needs
- the civilian essential needs such as food, emergency services, medical, police, fire etc must continue
- new bases, staging areas, training areas would need to be carved out from potentially virgin ground and existing reserve component assets.
- military security requirements will extend past the immediate theater to strategic resources and global lines of communication.

Well said LTC Jason Mackay. As LTC Stephen C. indicated, the draft hasn’t been used since 1973 and I hope it never is again. The biggest whiny, sniveling man is occupying the top spot right now and we know his feelings on the draft. Oh my god, my heal spurs are hurting like hell; I can’t serve!

SFC William Farrell - if had any say in the matter, I would follow a mantra of "I'll find you something to do."
