Happy birthday Marines. I love Marines have had the honor to serve with them in combat and other operations. I have the Honor to be able to have two Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia (Glob and Anchor) on two different Campaign Medals. FMF 5/16 device emblem that is awarded and authorized for wear on specific campaign, expeditionary, and service medal ribbons issued to US Navy Service members on duty with or attached to FMF units during combat operations and Navy units attached to and operating with Fleet Marine Force units while under Marine control during and under combat operations. The Sailor and Marine Corps unit must have engaged in active combat action with an armed enemy during the Sailors or Navy units attachment with the Marine ground combat unit. I take pride in being able to have those on my ribbons, also the two Combat Action Ribbon's earned while attached to Marines. We also have Marine cadres training us for combat. The bond we have with the corps goes all the way back to 1942 WWII God Bless all Marines, one more time happy birthday.

We were TDY with the Marines at Danang. We took their LRPS to the field and dropped them off, then went back to pick them up. Are they called LRPS or Special Operations ? I don't remember. Anyhow it was a privilege to operate with them. I felt sorry for them still humping the M-14 and a PRC-10 radio. But, eventually they got the M-16 and a PRC-25.

YA, they are awesome. We train and work with them more than regular Navy, as we fall under them while deployed, and that is the bond we are proud of. We also have a Marine gunny assigned to every Battalion, for advising the COC, and training Battalion in combat tactics. This is why our NMCB's (Battalions) are set up just like a Marine Battalion, Company's, Platoons, Squads, and Fire Teams, and we also have a lot of crew-served Weapons, more than most support units. We use to have Motors and Marines loved us for that. We are the Only Navy unit that falls under organizational chart for Special Purpose MAGTAF- Crises Response. They were probably LRPS, or could have been Force.
