Went with the 4th ID on REFORGER 77. One of the few times in my career when I volunteered, not to go (that was decided by my OIC) but to be part of the advance team and clean-up team.
We spent a lot of time preparing and loading our equipment for shipment. Then flew into Amsterdam, received our vehicles, and conveyed to the exercise site. After we got everything prepped for the troops, we had about a week off. Took some of my troops on a short tour of Heidelberg (my old assignment), Stuttgart, and Munich.
After the exercise, we had 10 days to clean and load our returning equipment. Got it all done in 5, partied the rest of the time.

I was part of the 1993 Reforger. Not very many units in the field, except for their headquarters units. Since this was after Desert Storm, a fictional European version of Iraq was the bad guys and the War was fought south to north. The 82 Engineers had just recently changed to Divisional Combat and supported the 3rd ID out of Wurzburg. We attacked north toward Kassel. My big excitement was planning an assault river crossing with a "line of death" minefield guarding it as the Assistant Brigade Engineer. I got an Atta Boy for the mission. I believe it was into one of the towns along the Werra, but it may have been across the Fulda River. Long time ago.
