I call bullshit. If the guy was hunkered down for more than four minutes of a six-minute shooting, it kinda doesn't matter where he thought the shooter was. He obviously wasn't closing any distance between him and wherever he claims he thought the shooter was.

LCpl Mike Calhoun
Thanks Chris, you are correct.
SN Ron Jett
The guy is nothing but a slither on his belly coward.

SN Ron Jett - No argument from me.

LCpl Mike Calhoun - Well, after the Maryland shooting, your profession now has an example it can be damned proud of. That's exactly how it's supposed to work -- bad guy shows up and starts shooting, good guy shoots bad guy before he can do much damage.
1LT Sandy Annala In a situation where shots are being fired in a school, the responders need to quickly respond and confront the shooter. That is hard to do if you are hunkered down outside.
"didn't go inside the high school because he believed the shooting was happening outside the building"....give ONLY him the mulligan, but now explain how when there are FOUR armed cops together they didn't break off into teams of two to get situational awareness of the perimeter of the school, why didn't they call into the school directly or through dispatch to get more situational awareness (the school did have cameras, but the PD was looking at it in the past tense with a 20min delay, meaning talking to the schools staff would've been the best option). From what I've read so far, they took up a position and sat there. They were all there while the shooting was in progress, so you have four cops who should be looking at being fired and sued till I win the lotto, and a Sheriff who's extraordinary leadership brought them through this hard time? This was so bad from a training and execution (school wise) point that they were reporting the kid was on a floor where the cops have already cleared the floor. Looking at a 20min delayed video.
The students and parents are going to unload a civil suit against the PD and the city when this slows down, they are perfectly justified, and will win (money doesn't make it a win, but the removal of the clowns who allowed complacency is)
No plan survives first contact, but this place had no plan at all.

SSG Warren Swan - So one more thought - if Peterson and the other first responders thought the shooter was outside, who pulled the fire alarm?
I realize that it is hard to think critically when stuff goes sideways, but these are trained officers.

1SG (Join to see) - Most likely the shooter would do this to drive kids into the hall. Sandy :)

1LT Sandy Annala - My point, exactly. The first thing that the SRO and any first responders would have showed up for was the fire alarm being triggered by the gunman. This was decidedly initiated from INSIDE the school, and most likely the system the school had would have indicated WHERE inside the school it got pulled.
That is one of the reasons the explanation that Peterson and his attorney had after the fact doesn't hold water with me.

1SG (Join to see) - Just as likely the intent was to empty students into the open. Who can say until the state and federal investigations are complete and report. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)
