He addresses the change which occurred on 23rd of January 1977 – the broadcast of the first installment of “Roots”. America awoke to it’s history, a history that had to be hidden. “Twelve Years a Slave” added to that history.

SFC (Join to see) Ive read Roots, saw the TV show and the movie 12 years a slave, all very powerful. The Taliban and ISIL are people who should be erased from the face of the earth as they have no redeeming qualities worthy of life.

I agree with the exception of calling them ISIL- they are ISIS, pure evil incarnate IMO. I also feel that we can never forget or cover up our history, not even the ugly parts- that's what made us who we are. Every blemish, every bruise, every scar, is what has made us stronger. Plus those that forget history are doomed to repeat it-we can't forget what our past generation fought, shed blood, and died to give us- IMO that is disrespecting their memories and I personally refuse to do it. The good, bad, ugly, and beautiful all play a role in making me who I am- take all or none, but don't try to just take a small part.
