One of my all time favorites

A photo I took of the AFVN (Armed Forces Vietnam) radio and television station, Da Nang, Vietnam in 1968. This was located on partway up monkey Mountain on a road that led to an US Air Force Radar site. We did listed to AFVN Da Nang and on television one of our favorite shows the the TV series Combat. The view going up monkey Mountain was one You could see everything around for miles. Also the road up to AFVN was through a small air force station which a mess hall, barracks, small BX, club etc. and secured by a Detachment from the 366th Security Police Squadron where the main unit was at Da Nang air base miles away. I was stationed at Da Nang Air base Myself and took the picture here on My one trip up Monkey Mountain Myself in a Security Police jeep operated by a SSgt Elrod who worked at the 366th SPS Detachment at Monkey Mountain. ( I had just turned 21 in October 0f 1968 when I took that picture)

AFVN radio was all we had to listen to, and it was great to hear the music that you loved. Of course we did not listen while we were in the jungle.
