Remember that many, if not most American children grow up in broken homes. (Over half of all marriages end in divorce, and many children are born to unmarried people.) Many of these children have no father. This absence of fathers in a family is a huge problem, and often leads to psychological problems among the children, including issues with authority. My father and several of his friends served in World War II and they taught me how to handle and respect guns at an early age. Aside from business travel, Dad was always there for our family. This made a huge difference.

Parents who leave their weapons available to their children should be held accountable. When I was in Junior High School, one of my friends was playing with a weapon and killed himself. Weapons need to be secured, failure to do so puts others at risk. This is unacceptable
