As demonstrated by history, President Truman was clearly correct to stand up to the Soviet Union. Under Truman, the U.S. defended Greece, Turkey, West Berlin, all of Western Europe (establishment of NATO), & South Korea. Had it not been for President Truman's resolve, today's world would be vastly different -- dominated by totalitarians.

Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on March 30, 1948 that, during the early stage of the Cold War, former vice-president and current Progressive Party presidential candidate Henry Wallace lashed out at the Cold War policies of President Harry S. Truman.
Thankfully the Cold War never became hot even though their were many instances when it could become hot from the Cuban Missile Crisis onwards.
I am thankful that former President Ronald Reagan stood firm against the USSR and the USSR began to collapse when the Berlin wall crumbled on November 9, 1989 and the USSR finally collapsed on Christmas Day 1991.
