I read that the FDNY union president got vaccinated. Anyone who calls out sick has to see a doctor and get a sick note.

Not as bad as first forecast but not many police/fire fighters can afford to go without pay so I'm sure compliance wasn't exactly voluntary in a true sense of the word. Had they stuck to their guns and some 20 to 30 percent refused the jab, I'd bet NCY would have backed down.

I am getting notices on my FDNY firefighter's union Instagram page of how many firefighters have been told to go home over this. While Im all for the vaccine, I do believe it is an individual choice. You want to risk getting very sick and dying from Covid, that is your choice. Id rather see mandatory test for those not vaccinated.

And it is the city's choice to not let you work unless you comply with their rules. Same as having to pass a PT test or written test or training.

SrA John Monette - Basically, you're right .. but a change in rules, or additional rules should have been done through their unions. That's not to say I'm a "unon guy," but they do have a PD/FD/other workers bargaining units.
Like SFC William Farrell, I'm for the jab and did get the Moderna jabs; but it really sould be a personal medical decision. Dems only see it that way in regards to abortion however.
