Sgt Kelli Mays I'm glad that these VA Offices are under scrutiny. Just like any healthcare organization the rules governoring medicine and the practice of medicine needs to be of the highest quality. I can guarentee you that there are many medical facilities, hospitals, groups, speciality groups, etc. that have their share of issues as well. I work with healthcare everyday and you would be amazed at the isssues we have on the civilian side of healthcare as well. I think that healthcare needs to be watched and inspected on all fronts (VA and Civiilian Sector) as well. Just an opinion. Hopefully, they will get Cincinnati VA fixed and bakc on the right track!

A Veteran's Service should be proved by his DD214. If the VA refuses to accept that then there is a HUGE problem. What a crock !!!
As far as the prescription problem, regardless of any argument to the contrary, if the IG is investigating then there is most likely a valid complaint. (Where there's smoke, there's fire principle.)
I look forward to following this investigation, Sgt Kelli Mays.

I visit the VA hospital in Long Beach California regularly with other members of my VFW post. We hold barbecues for them and host pizza parties. They really appreciate the food inasmuch as the slop they are fed is prepared at the VA hospital in LA and steamed after being transported to them. More importantly, we just sit and talk with them. That's my favorite part. One patient, a veteran who also happened to be a nurse at the hospital had some harsh words. When asked what she thought of the place, she replied that she felt that two-thirds of them should be fired, and she had plenty of good reasons that she shared with me that day.
I think that there's been plenty of evidence of misfeasance, malfeasance, and nonfeasance to shake anyone's faith in the VA hospital system. Those who are inclined to continue defending it are either party to the situation or among the fortunate few who lucked into a good outcome as patients in the system.
Having observed repeated failures in every type of government managed operation, I can't say that I'm surprised...

I don't think it's fair to lump all VA's into one big "BAD" category! My VA is an awesome VA which I've gone to for nearly 20 years. We have several VA facilities here spread through out San Antonio to accommodate everyone. We have the main VA hospital, but we have five or six clinics to make it more convenient for those who live in other parts of the city....and then we have a couple of DOD facilities that have certain specialties that Veterans are allowed to go to. I have no complaints with my VA Hospital and facility and never have. I've experienced the ER, had surgery and been in patient...out patient surgery...the works...I have always been impressed with the care they've given to me..I've always said that other VA facilities should come here and learn how they do it and then take it back with them and make their facilities better.
