The LAC and the LOC are very hot zones, where deployed troops are endangered souls 24/7. Terrorism is rife here too.

Having said the above, the LAC in eastern Ladakh is erupting because the PLA assumes India is alike to what it was in 1962; it is the narrative China imparts to these soldiers. Initially, the confrontation was in the Galwan Valley and the Hot Springs areas of the LAC. Now, the PLA are probing into India in the finger region of the Pangong Tso. There has also been activity in the Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) area, where PLA and the Border Security Force (BSF) stood face to face across the nallah. Martyrdom for these troops, on either side, is expected given the boiling pot both sides are engaged in at present. However, I doubt there will be any battle between India and China putting aside implications of war. Skirmishes are status quo since 1962 along both the Lines of Control in J&K and Leh-Ladakh.
