How about this...DON'T BUY ANYTHING YOU CAN'T AFFORD!!! Do what everybody else did. Buya small house and as y our family grows you sell take the prifits and put on a bigger house until you get your final home. That way you can afford it!!!

Watch the video before commenting. Due to costs from material, permits, and other requirements, builders focus on big luxury in order to get a return on investment. Small 1400 square foot houses are a rarity in today's times.

LTC Eugene Chu - They are there...if you want a smaller home you can build one. You don't have to have a 3000 Sq Ft home just starting out. Just go to any realestate site and type in 1500 - 1800 sq ft and see what comes up. They are there. Problem is that people want new and want big...and builders will accomodate that but the buyer makes the deal not the builder. BTW I did watch the video. Their comments about land prices and government fees and interest rates...well, when did all that start the steep increase...oh, that's right when our current administration took office. Again, home inventories are down cause people can't afford the high interest rates...thanks again to our current administration.
