Thanks for letting us know Maj Marty Hogan that today is the anniversary of the birth of Canadian-American physical educator, physician, chaplain, sports coach and innovator James Naismith who wrote the original basketball rule book and founded the University of Kansas basketball program,

I recall the different ball games the phys. ed. teachers made the class do with all of the running and screeching on the gym floor. To think a phys. ed. teacher actually invented basketball says something about the sport and the practice of such really helps to keep a person fit.
